Trump Warns Iran After Deadly Protest Crackdown

Trump warns Iran after deadly protests as he says Tehran wants to negotiate but the United States may still consider strong military and economic action.

U.S. President Donald Trump said that Iran is seeking negotiations, but he warned that the United States may still consider “strong options,” including military action, following a violent crackdown on nationwide protests that has reportedly killed hundreds of people.

According to many activist groups, at least 572 people have been killed by Iranian security forces during attempts to suppress weeks of unrest sparked by worsening economic conditions and soaring prices. Due to a nationwide internet and phone blackout, the true scale of the violence remains unclear.

Trump Warns Iran of Military Action and New Tariffs

Trump said on his social media platform and that Iran wants to negotiate, but Trump Warns Iran that the United States could step in if Iranian forces continue shooting at protesters. He also announced a new 25% tariff on countries doing business with Iran, in addition to any existing U.S. tariffs. This move signals increased economic pressure on Iran.

Iran Says It Is Ready for War or Dialogue

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the situation inside the country is now under control. He also said that Iran is “ready for war but also for talks.” He warned that Iran would respond forcefully if the U.S. chooses military action.

Meanwhile, Iran’s clerical leadership has accused the United States and Israel of fueling the unrest. Leaders claim that what they describe as “terrorists” have hijacked the protests.

Conflicting Death Toll Reports

An Iranian official said that around 2,000 people, including security personnel, have been killed during the unrest. This is the first time authorities have acknowledged such a high figure. However, no official breakdown of civilian and security force deaths was provided.

Iranian state media reports that more than 100 security personnel have been killed, while opposition groups claim the death toll includes hundreds of protesters. Due to communication restrictions, independent verification remains difficult.

Disturbing Images and International Reaction

Footage verified by international media reportedly shows dozens of bodies in black bags outside a forensic medical center near Tehran.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, said he was “horrified” by reports of violence and urged Iranian authorities to respect international human rights standards.

Growing International Tensions

China, Iran’s largest trading partner, reacted to Trump’s tariff action. A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said there are “no winners in a tariff war.”

At this time, analysts say Iran is facing its most serious internal crisis in years. As protests continue and global pressure increases, the possibility of further escalation between Iran and the U.S. remains high.
